Mission & Justice
Mission
Locally, church members serve the Community Friendship Meal to neighbors in need twice a year, collect clothes and supplies for workers at the Bloomsburg Fair, and support neighbors after natural disasters. Non-perishable food items are collected year-round for the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard.
Justice
First Presbyterian Church of Bloomsburg is committed to doing justice as a central part of our vision and mission. We advocate for equal and dignified treatment of all people because we believe every human is created in the image of God. Congregation members work on behalf of LGBTQ community members who face discrimination, immigrants and refugees being unfairly treated, people experiencing poverty, and on a range of eco-justice issues which affect us all. We are a member of More Light Presbyterians and a Gold Sponsor of the 2022 Annual Conference of Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light. In March 2023 we were certified as a PC(USA) Earth Care Congregation.
